So You Can Stop Second Guessing Every Decision and Relax a Little!

Stephanie Orloff

Hey there! I’m Stephanie Orloff, and I am thrilled to connect with you here.

As a nurse practitioner and IBCLC with over 15 years of experience, supporting new parents is not just my profession—it’s my true passion. Living in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area with my husband and two boys, I find joy in embracing life’s ordinary adventures and cherishing the little moments that make it special.

Meaningful connections and genuine support are the cornerstones of my approach. Each day, I strive to infuse love, balance, and open-mindedness into everything I do, bringing positive energy to those around me.

As a mama myself, I intimately understand the trials and tribulations that accompany the arrival of a newborn, especially during those initial weeks and months at home. Whether you’re grappling with sore nipples, mastering the art of latching, finding your rhythm of feeding and pumping, or seeking advice on newborn care, count on me to be by your side every step of the way. Together, let’s cultivate an environment of nurture and harmony for both you and your sweet little one.

As a fellow parent myself, I’m well acquainted with the challenges and anxieties that come hand in hand with welcoming a new baby into your life. When my husband and I brought our son home for the first time, we found ourselves grappling with seemingly endless hours of crying, desperately attempting various soothing techniques. From rocking to pacing the house and even bouncing on a yoga ball, we tried it all. Yet, it was only when my husband resorted to nighttime car rides to lull him to sleep, sometimes at 2 am, that we found a temporary solution.

Our son’s sleep patterns were anything but predictable. Naps lasted a mere 20 minutes during the day, and he woke up every 2-3 hours at night for an entire year. I often felt like I was missing something, as nobody seemed to share the same sleep struggles. Breastfeeding had its fair share of challenges too—our son’s weight loss in the first week led us to supplement with formula while we awaited my milk to come in. While I managed to exclusively breastfeed for 13 months, the persistent worry of whether he was getting enough at the breast, particularly during those initial months, stayed with me. I fretted about my milk production and dreaded the possibility of mastitis or clogged ducts.

Despite having a strong support system, a fantastic pediatrician, and access to clinic lactation appointments, I still felt overwhelmed and underprepared. I still had a ton of unanswered questions and craved consistent and comprehensive guidance to navigate not only the first four weeks but the months beyond. The sheer volume of information was overwhelming, and I grappled with what felt like “postpartum blues” during those initial weeks. I distinctly remember shedding tears in front of my mother-in-law and feeling embarrassed by the lack of control over my emotions.

Yet, it was this journey that inspired me to create Newborn Nirvana. My mission goes beyond being a reliable resource; it’s about nurturing the very nurturers who tirelessly care for their newborns. Additionally, the realization that most insurance companies don’t offer in-home care during the delicate phase of new parenthood propelled me to take action and bridge this significant gap.
